Keep the Records Simple and Current

A useful inspection report should identify the asset, condition found, supporting readings or photographs, and recommended next step. It should clearly distinguish between urgent repairs, planned corrective work, and conditions that can be monitored.

The report should document:

  • Date and operating conditions
  • Visible defects or abnormal conditions
  • Tests performed and relevant results
  • Changes from previous inspections
  • Recommended repairs, retesting, or monitoring
